Despite its impressive paddling efficiency, the Ocean remains highly responsive in the air. Its reduced overall length compared to previous generation performance boards creates a more agile and connected feeling, allowing riders to carve, pump, and maneuver freely throughout the entire run.
The Downwind Ocean features a high-efficiency displacement hull specifically designed to maximize paddling speed and straight-line tracking. This refined bottom shape generates exceptional glide, helping riders accelerate effortlessly and catch open-ocean swell with less energy expenditure.
Compared to the previous Downwind Performance model, the Ocean achieves similar volume in a shorter overall length. This compact design significantly improves maneuverability once on foil, making the board more responsive during carving, pumping, and directional changes while maintaining outstanding stability during takeoff.
Rounded rails and softened chines create a remarkably stable and comfortable platform when paddling. Combined with a flatter deck profile, the Ocean offers increased standing area and allows riders to position their feet naturally for maximum control and power generation during takeoff and while riding at speed.
The new high-density EVA deck pad provides superior grip, comfort, and board control while remaining lightweight. Its refined texture improves rider confidence in all conditions and contributes to a highly connected feeling underfoot.
Construction is based on Armstrong’s proven premium technology. The ultra-rigid double-skin carbon PVC sandwich construction works alongside the brand’s signature dual carbon I-beam stringers to maximize stiffness, durability, and direct foil response. Additional PVC reinforcement protects the rails, nose, and tail from impact while increasing long-term durability.
Armstrong’s industry-leading Forward Geometry foil track system positions the foil further forward within the board, reducing swing weight and improving responsiveness. This innovative design creates a more centered and balanced feeling on foil, resulting in sharper turns, improved pumping efficiency, and a highly connected riding experience.
Each board is supplied with a protective polyester board bag for convenient transport and storage.
