The Armstrong Downwind Mk III has been completely redesigned around one objective: accelerating progression. Whether you're discovering the world of downwind foiling or pushing your limits carving aggressively through short-period swell and open-ocean bumps, the Mk III delivers the perfect balance of glide, stability, and responsiveness.
Featuring a faster displacement hull, refined outline, and Armstrong’s proven Forward Geometry foil track system, the Downwind Mk III makes takeoffs easier than ever while dramatically improving handling once on foil. It accelerates efficiently, catches bumps with minimal effort, and transforms every run into a smoother, more connected experience.
Shorter and slightly narrower than the previous generation, the Mk III feels more playful and reactive in the air while maintaining the stability and confidence riders need during paddling, takeoff, and challenging conditions.
The Downwind Mk III features a new high-efficiency displacement hull designed to maximize paddling speed and facilitate early takeoffs. The refined hull shape accelerates effortlessly, allowing riders to catch bumps and generate foil speed without requiring perfect paddling technique or excessive power.
Its updated outline is shorter and slightly narrower than previous Downwind models, creating a more agile and responsive feel once airborne. Combined with Armstrong’s signature Forward Geometry foil track system, the foil sits further forward within the board, reducing swing weight and delivering a noticeably more direct connection between rider and foil. The result is sharper carving, improved pumping efficiency, and greater maneuverability throughout the ride.
Despite its more compact dimensions, the Mk III remains exceptionally comfortable and stable. Rounded rails and a flatter deck increase usable standing area and improve lateral stability, helping riders maintain balance through takeoffs, touchdowns, and rough water conditions. The new high-density EVA deck pad provides enhanced grip, superior comfort, and improved board control while remaining incredibly lightweight.
Construction is based on Armstrong’s proven premium technology. An ultra-rigid double-skin carbon PVC sandwich construction works in conjunction with the brand’s signature dual carbon I-beam stringer system to maximize stiffness, durability, and direct foil response. Additional PVC reinforcement around the rails, nose, and tail improves impact resistance and protects the board during transport and daily use.
Integrated carbon foil tracks are fully bonded into the board structure, creating an exceptionally strong and efficient connection between board and foil while maintaining the responsive feeling that Armstrong boards are known for.
Each Downwind Mk III comes supplied with a protective polyester board bag for safe storage and transport.
